King Alfred's Way

Share:

Cycling UK's almost entirely off-road 350km circular bikepacking route in the South of England.

Officially starting in Winchester the route heads west to Salisbury and then north over the military training ground on the plain - watch out for tanks! It then picks up the Ridgeway in Avebury and follows this all the way to Goring where it veers off to Reading.

From here it heads south through the Forest of Eversly and in to Farnham then onto Frensham Common and Thursley Nature Reserve. After Devil's Punchbowl (once the A3 which now goes underneath in a tunnel) it skirts Woolmer Forest and picks up the South Downs Way back to Winchester.
